Want Another Chance?
Have you ever felt like you needed a chance to start over with life...with
God? A lot of us at Grace Chapel have, too!
We know first hand what it’s like to encounter the “hard stuff” of life: divorce, addictions, grief, illness, financial loss, moving to a new town, relational difficulties… and more. Sound familiar? We also know what it’s like to find genuine hope again! We work hard to make our community of believers a safe place for people on their spiritual journeys. You’re invited to join us in finding hope and passing it on to others.
Because we want you to feel comfortable as you come in our doors, we thought you’d want to know a little about what we’re like and how we “do church”. People go to church for a variety of reasons, of course. For instance, you may be new to the area and looking for a home church. You may want to know what we believe and where we’re heading. You also may be exploring why people bother to learn about Jesus Christ and what His church is all about. In any case, we want you to feel at home with us. You are welcomed to attend and participate at your own ‘comfort level’.
So what will it be like for you when you attend our church on a Sunday morning?
• Our Sunday Morning service is currently 9:30 a.m. and lasts until about 11 a.m.,
sometimes, with a coffee and chat time afterward.• Parking is available on the side streets near the church building. You can also park in either the county lot or city hall lot across the street from the church.
• We have several doors to the building and all of them are open on Sunday mornings. You’ll see the main meeting area, the sanctuary, in the center section of the main floor. Choose any seat you’d like, or ask an usher to help you find a place.
• You’ll be greeted on the way in to the sanctuary and will see full band equipment on the stage. We have 4 different bands that rotate their responsibilities that assist us with worship and praising God. They offer a variety of music: from country, rock, hymns and contemporary styles. Some people like to be more expressive with clapping or raising their hands; others prefer to be more contemplative and quiet. All styles are welcomed in the Grace family.
• Pastor Joe Grier will speak for about 20-30 minutes. He commonly teaches a relevant series from the Bible, using a PowerPoint presentation to create an outline. You can expect him to teach us what the Scriptures say and how it applies to us. Sometimes he uses current video clips to make his point, as well.
• We regularly share Communion together and it’s usually on the first Sunday of the month. This is a special ritual for our church family and is meant only for Christians. If you are simply exploring Christianity, don’t feel obliged to take the bread and juice as it’s passed out. Simply pass the tray to the next person in the pew or give it to an usher as he comes by.
• As the service comes to a close, we take an offering. This act of worship is meant for our church family also. Please don’t feel you must donate anything unless you want to. The money collected is used for our current ministries, salaries and on-going expenses of Grace Chapel. If you’d like more information on how our finances are invested in people, please contact Pastor Joe Grier at the church office.
• We’ll be dismissed with a prayer of benediction and can chat with those around us. If you’d like a copy of the Oshkosh Northwestern, you can purchase a copy on the way out. All proceeds go to the general fund.
Who usually attends Grace Chapel, and what are they like?
• We are mixed ages and stages! You’ll see college students, seniors, singles,
families and teens. We are white or blue collar workers and are generous in giving
time, money and talents to our community.
• We actively look to partner with other evangelical churches and ministries to
"do together what we can't do apart". Want to see what ministries we’re involved
in? Take a look here: Missions
• We are relevant in advancing the Kingdom of God, and look for creative ways to
meet our cultures needs.
• We are convinced that having fun, enjoying God and passing on the hope of Jesus
Christ to those around us, is the best way to live.
